It may not be pretty, but the Blazer's interior offers everything Szczepanik needs on the trail. The original carpet is long gone, and seat covers are the only luxury. A six-point rollcage ensures safety; a marine-application tachometer and voltmeter reside to the left of the steering column; the winch controller is dash-mounted for ease of use; and the Holley Pro-Jection control unit is mounted high on the dash just in case the Blazer is pointed into deep water or mud. The interior also gives a hint as to how the Blazer has evolved-you can still see the shifter boot from the former SM465 transmission. In the bed of the truck resides a York air compressor and tank, as well as a 16-gallon fuel cell.

Unique coil-spring body mounts were designed by Szczepanik. They allow the Blazer's body to flex independently from the frame. They consist of a few simple parts including a polyurethane body mount, a sleeve made from exhaust tubing, 6-inch-long bolts, and modified NAPA helper springs. Szczepanik says that they work great, and they've eliminated a recurring problem with broken body mounts on the trail. He also notes that allowing the rigid Blazer body to flex has improved the vehicle's overall trail flex.
1983 Chevy Blazer Transfer Case
Just like many of the other components on his Blazer, it took Szczepanik a few tries to find a transfer-case setup that he liked. He tried the stock NP208, an NP205, and a divorce-mount NP205 before he settled on the current system, an NP203/205 combo made possible by an Off Road Design Doubler kit. The pair is held in place by a duo of custom-made crossmembers. The 'cases are shifted via shifters that use cable instead of linkage. This cable setup helps avoid binding when the truck is radically tweaked on the trail.
