Two obvious and unique features of Williams' Chevy are the bedrail-mounted ammo can and the camouflage paint job. The ammo can is used to store trail essentials like fluids, U-joints, axleshafts, hubs, and tools. The paint job was applied by the owner (using a spray can, of course) and is protected by clearcoat. Other items of note: The Chevy's body has been lifted 3 inches to create more tire clearance, the bedsides have been modified, and a set of Bushwacker Pocket Style fender flares keep crud from the tires in check.

One of the few stock drivetrain items that remain under the Chevy is the 14-bolt rear axle. It has been upgraded with a number of items to improve its performance, and the list includes a Detroit Locker, 5.13:1 gears, and a homemade disc-brake system. The axle gets power from a custom heavy-duty rear driveshaft that sports a 1350-series CV at the front and a 1410-series U-joint at the rear. The rear suspension is comprised of Superlift 8-inch-lift leaf springs, 3-inch lift blocks, a 4-inch shackle reversal, and a Superlift shock at each wheel. Williams removed two leaves from each spring pack to soften the ride and enhance axle articulation.
1987 Chevy K20 Bed Winch
Williams let his creativity run wild when it came time to utilize the Chevy's bed. Up front, he mounted an RCI 32-gallon fuel tank. Amidships he mounted a 10,000-pound-capacity PTO winch. The winch is bolted to the bed and to a subframe that is mounted securely to the vehicle's frame. The winch is driven by the PTO-equipped NP205 transfer case. The winch cable travels to the rear of the vehicle through holes cut in the rearmost frame crossmembers.

1987 Chevy K20 Interior
It's clear that Williams is a grassroots kind of guy. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the simple, functional design of the interior. His throne is a re-covered vinyl bench seat, and the floor is covered in durable Rattleguard spray-on lining. Both can be easily cleaned after grimy 'wheeling. He's protected by a full S&W Race Cars rollcage. Auto Meter gauges allow him to monitor fuel level, oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, engine rpm, and forward velocity.
1987 Chevy K20 Front Bumper
Williams fabbed the front and rear bumpers from sturdy 0.250-inch steel. The front houses a MileMarker E12000 winch and offers a pair of sturdily mounted front tow hooks.
1987 Chevy K20 Transfer Case
The transfer case is a divorced PTO-equipped NP205 sourced from a Dodge truck. It mounts to a custom crossmember and is fed power by a custom driveshaft. Williams ordered the PTO kit online, and it allows him to power the bed-mounted PTO winch.
1987 Chevy K20 Antiwrap Bar
An unwelcome result of removing two leaves from the rear Superlift spring packs was an abundance of wheelhop. The smooth ride and improved flex was worth it, though. Nonetheless, the problem had to be solved, so Williams fabbed a custom antiwrap bar to keep the axle planted. It's fabbed mostly from 1.75-inch tubing. One end bolts to the front and rear of the 14-bolt axle, and the other end bolts to a custom frame crossmember.
